Telephone Prayer Meetings

 

Any ordinary telephone can be used as a way to meet together to pray! The Telephone Prayer Meeting Service utilises a facility that many businesses now use, called telephone conferencing. All you need is a telephone line. No computer or other technical equipment is needed. Even mobile telephones or public payphones can be used to take part in a telephone prayer meeting.

 

To put it simply, everyone just needs to make a phone call. Instead of calling another person’s phone number in the way you normally would, everybody who wants to take part in the meetings call a special dedicated telephone number – 0844 581 9102  

 

You then enter a special “PIN” style code number. Your group just need to decide on the PIN number you want to use – choose any memorable 6 digit number. Make sure you let everyone in your church or group know the PIN code number!

 

Everyone who calls in to the system and enters the same PIN code will be connected to each other. There can be many meetings going on at the same time – the system will only connect people who have entered the same PIN code together, and no one else.

 

The total cost for the whole thing is covered in the telephone call charge - the 0844 number should cost 5p per minute (plus any applicable connection fee) from most landline providers.

 

However, to save money you can call  00 1 712 432 1600 as an alternative access number. This connects you to the same service as the 0844 number, but for the price of a standard US landline call. Numerous telephone and web-based calling packages include free international landline calls.
