Music on the Waits

A local tradition in St Ives is for free music concerts to be performed on Sunday afternoons throughout the summer on The Waits by the river - directly across the road from our church. Previously funded by the district council, local group Festival Events St Ives (FESt) have stepped up to the mark to ensure this tradition is able to continue for 2010 and hopefully beyond.

Our church is open during these concerts for visitors to look round, and we also serve refreshments to thirsty music lovers. The church can also come in handy for much needed toilets and as the emergency “wet weather venue” if needed.

The line up for summer 2010 looks like this-

11th July - St Neots Big Band - Enjoy some big band swing.

18th July - No concert (but we’ve got an open air service on the Waits in the morning)

25th July - Dudley Hedge - Traditional jazz music

1st August -  Caledonian Pipe Band - Scottish pipes.

8th August -  The Iain Mann Trio - violin, guitar and bass

15th August - Peter Roberts - Classical Pop

22nd August - Ethel Cats - Traditional English folk music

29th August - artist to be arranged

Please feel welcome to wander down to the Waits, sit by the river, take in some free music and let us serve you a free cup of tea or coffee (or something cooler). It would be great to see you there. Bring the family.
